Export an R&D claim pack

Your tax adviser needs two things for each claim: the technical narrative, and how the qualifying cost was worked out. Flowstate exports both, for one claim or many.

You need access to detailed financial figures — ask your Flowstate admin.

Export one claim

1. Open the claim.
2. Select Export rationale for the narrative, or Export costs for the workings.

The narrative document has every section of the claim. Every required section must have text before you can export it.

The workings show the claim's totals, how the figures were worked out and the credit rates used, cost by quarter and by cost centre, effort by month, and each person's effort and cost.

Export many claims

1. Go to Finance → R&D tax claims → Overview and set the period.
2. Select Select.
3. Tick claims, or select Select all in view. You can export up to 100 at a time.
4. Select Export claim pack (document) or Export workings (Excel).

• The claim pack is one Word document with every selected claim's narrative. Empty required sections are marked rather than stopping the export, so read it before you send it.
• The workings are one workbook with a summary row for each claim — spend, likely return and credit received — then cost by quarter, each person's effort and cost, and how the figures were worked out.

Filed and closed claims aren't on the Overview. Open each one from the Completed tab and export it on its own.

If something's not right

"Access denied: Financial permissions required". You don't have access to detailed financial figures. Ask your Flowstate admin.

"One or more required rationale sections are empty". Finish the required sections, or use the claim pack, which exports with gaps marked.

A row can't be ticked. It's a suggestion. Accept it first.
