Eddy

Eddy is the assistant built into Flowstate. Ask it a question in plain words: it answers with your real figures and opens the screen that shows them. It can also model changes for you in a scenario.

Questions to try

On the Eddy page, Where to start suggests questions for the parts of Flowstate your organisation uses. For example:

You can also ask about a named team, project, person or initiative, such as "Who is on the Payments team?" or "How is the Checkout initiative tracking against its forecast?"

Ask a question

1. Select Eddy at the top of the sidebar. Flowstate opens here when you sign in.
2. Type your question in the box and select Ask Eddy, or select one of the suggestions under Where to start.
3. Read Eddy's answer in the panel on the right. Eddy opens the screen with the detail beside it, filtered to what you asked about.

To ask from any other screen, select Ask Eddy (the Eddy icon) in the top bar.

Tip

Name the period you mean — "this quarter", "last month" — and the team or project. Eddy answers faster and more precisely.

What Eddy can do

• Answer with your figures. Headcount, cost, the forecast, effort and timesheets, capitalisation, R&D claims, budgets, AI spend and adoption, pull requests, business metrics and project value.
• Take you to the right screen. It opens the page that shows the answer, so you can check it, filter it and share the link.
• Draw a chart when no screen answers the question. You can keep the chart as a report.
• Model a change in a scenario. Ask it to "create a scenario where we add three engineers to Payments" and it creates a draft scenario, makes the changes and takes you there. It can add, change or remove teams, people, vacancies, contractors, projects, AI agents, allocations and budgets.
• Update your roadmap. It can add or update initiatives, move projects into or out of an initiative, and start a CapEx claim. These changes apply to your roadmap straight away, not to a scenario.

Eddy only creates a scenario when you ask for a change. A "what if" question gets an answer, and Eddy offers to model it if that would help.

What Eddy won't do

• Show costs you can't see. If you can't see costs or salaries elsewhere in Flowstate, Eddy won't show them either.
• Change your people, teams or allocations directly. Those changes are only made in a draft scenario, which is reviewed before it's merged. See Scenarios.
• Offer screens your organisation doesn't use. Suggestions and links only cover the parts of Flowstate you have.

Your conversations

• Your chats are private to you.
• Select New chat (the + in the panel) to start again. Select the chat title at the top of the panel to go back to a recent chat.
• If you're in a draft scenario when you ask Eddy to change something, it makes the change in that scenario.

Keep a chart from Eddy

When Eddy answers with a chart, you can save it as a report and show it on a dashboard.

1. In Eddy's answer, select the chart to open it full size.
2. Select Add to Dashboard. Flowstate saves the chart as one of your reports, described as Generated by AI Assistant, and shows Report added to dashboard. It goes to your default dashboard or, if you haven't set one, the dashboard you can see that was updated most recently.
3. To show it as a tile, open that dashboard and drag the report on from My reports. See Add reports to a dashboard.

If you don't have a dashboard, Add to Dashboard is greyed out. Create a dashboard first.

Tip

Eddy can only add charts to a dashboard you made. Make one of your own dashboards your default so you know where Eddy's charts go.

Use Flowstate from Claude or ChatGPT

You can ask about your Flowstate data from Claude or ChatGPT instead of Eddy. You'll see this option only if your organisation has it switched on.

1. Select Ask Eddy in the top bar to open the Eddy panel.
2. Select New chat (the +) so the panel shows its starting screen.
3. Under Connect from Claude or ChatGPT, select the copy button beside MCP server URL (Copy MCP URL).
4. Select the Claude or ChatGPT tab and follow the steps there. In both, you add a custom connector in the app's settings, paste the address, then sign in with your Flowstate account.

When Eddy is switched off

Eddy is on unless your organisation has had it switched off. When it's off:

• Eddy isn't in your sidebar. When you sign in, Flowstate opens on the last page you used, or on your Inbox.
• Your organisation's key contacts for billing still see Eddy in the sidebar, greyed out with a lock. Pointing to it shows Not enabled for your organisation.
• Selecting the locked entry, or an old link to Eddy, opens a page that explains what Eddy does, with Contact Flowstate to enable. That button starts an email to Flowstate asking to switch Eddy on.

If something's not right

Eddy isn't in the sidebar. Eddy has been switched off for your organisation. See When Eddy is switched off.

Add to Dashboard says "Failed to add report to dashboard". The dashboard it tried isn't one you made. Make one of your own dashboards your default, then try again.

Eddy won't show a cost. You don't have access to cost figures. Ask for headcount or FTE instead, or ask your Flowstate admin for access.

Eddy says you don't have permission to change a scenario. You need access to edit scenarios, and the scenario must still be a draft. Ask your Flowstate admin.
