Match people and teams from your tools

Flowstate needs to know which account in your project tool or GitHub belongs to which of your people. Until an account is matched, that person's work doesn't count as effort and their pull requests have no cost. It also needs to know which Flowstate team each team in your tool is.

Flowstate matches most accounts for you by email address. Use this page to match the rest and fix mistakes. Setting up for the first time? Follow steps 6 and 7 of Connect your project tool.

You need access to integrations. Ask your Flowstate admin.

Accounts from AI providers that report per person, such as GitHub Copilot logins, can appear here too when they don't match anyone. Pick All to see them.

Match an account to a person

1. Go to Settings → Integrations → User attribution.
2. Look under Unattributed. Accounts that aren't matched to anyone are listed first.
3. To find an account, type in Search people…, pick a tool such as Jira or GitHub (or All), or sort by Most active or Name.
4. On the account's row, select Select employee..., search by name or email, and pick the person.

Done when: the account moves under Attributed, with the person's name beside it.

Undo a wrong match

1. Under Attributed, find the account.
2. Select Unmap. The account moves back under Unattributed.
3. Pick the right person, as above.

Bring in new accounts

Select Sync at the top of User attribution. Flowstate reads the users in each connected tool again and matches them by email.

Done when: you see "Synced — attribution is up to date."

Choose who runs a coding agent

Coding agents that open pull requests in GitHub are listed under Agents. An agent marked No operator isn't linked to the person who runs it.

1. Under Agents, find the agent.
2. Open the person picker on its row and choose the person who runs it.

Done when: the row says Operator.

To clear it, choose No match (skip). See Agent pull requests and operators.

Map a team

1. Go to Settings → Integrations → Team attribution.
2. Look under Unmapped. Each row shows the tool and how many projects the team has.
3. On the team's row, select Select team... and pick the Flowstate team.

Done when: the team moves under Mapped.

To change a mapping, pick a different team. To remove it, choose No match (skip).

Sync on this page runs a full sync of every connected project tool. You'll see "Sync started — this can take a moment to complete." New teams appear when it finishes. Follow it on Sync Health.

If something's not right

Someone's effort isn't counted, or their pull requests have no cost. Their account is under Unattributed. Match it.

The person isn't in the list. They aren't in Flowstate yet. Add them with the email they use in your tool, then select Sync. See People and teams.

A GitHub account doesn't look like anyone. GitHub usernames often aren't real names. Check the email shown under the username, or ask your engineering lead.

The picker on a GitHub row is greyed out. GitHub couldn't link those commits to a GitHub account, so there's nothing to match yet. Fix the commit author in GitHub, then select Sync.

I can't pick a contractor. The picker lists employees only. Contractors are matched when their email in Flowstate matches the one in your tool.

The page says "No teams to map". Teams appear once a project tool is connected and has synced.
