Intercom Fin

Bring Fin's cost into Flowstate so your AI support agent sits on the same ledger as engineering's copilots and the people they work with.

Intercom reports conversations, not money

Intercom's API exposes conversations, not spend. Flowstate counts Fin's resolutions and multiplies them by the price per resolution you enter when connecting. That makes the figure only as accurate as the rate you supply — update it whenever your contract changes, or the number will quietly drift away from your invoice.

This is why Fin shows as an estimated cost in Flowstate, never as an invoiced one.

What syncs

DataGrain
Fin resolutionsCounted per day across your workspace
Estimated costResolutions × your price per resolution

Figures are workspace-level with no per-agent dimension.

What you'll see in Flowstate

  • Support AI on the same ledger — Fin's cost next to the engineering AI estate, so the whole AI bill is in one place. See Spend.
  • Volume trends — how Fin's resolution volume is moving, and what that does to cost.

Getting started

You need a private app in your own Intercom Developer Hub with the Read conversations scope. This is not an OAuth connection — a private app built against your own workspace is issued an access token when you create it, and you paste that token into Flowstate. Intercom reserves OAuth for public apps reaching into other people's workspaces, which is not what this is.

  1. In the Intercom Developer Hub, open your app → Configure → Authentication and copy the access token
  2. Check the app carries the Read conversations scope
  3. In Flowstate, open Settings → Integrations → Intercom Fin, paste the token and enter what you pay for each Fin resolution
  4. Click Verify and connect — Flowstate makes one read-only call to check it works before saving anything

How syncing works

Resolutions sync hourly, and the first connect backfills history from your conversation record.

If the token is revoked or loses its conversations scope, the connection shows Intercom's real error on its provider page.
